Dr. Gillette

Dr. Austin Gillette grew up in the farming community of Paul, Idaho where he learned hard work and to love the outdoors and the rural way of life. Growing up he enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing, and working on the farm. His dream was to become a family physician and return to Idaho.

After serving an LDS mission in Venezuela he returned to Brigham Young University where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in Psychology. He then studied medicine at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio and was one of the family medicine student leaders at the university.

After medical school Dr. Gillette completed a rural residency program in Pocatello, Idaho that focuses on preparing rural doctors with procedural, hospital, and obstetrical skills necessary to treat patients in outlying communities. There he worked with and learned from specialists including pulmonary critical care doctors, cardiologists, allergists, dermatologists, obstetricians, and others.

After residency, Dr. Gillette worked for Upper Valley Community Health Services in St. Anthony, Idaho, where he practiced a full scope family medicine and often spent nights delivering babies at Madison Memorial Hospital. Dr. Gillette enjoys taking care of patients in and out of the hospital at all stages of life including newborns, children, adolescents, nursing home patients, and everyone in between. He loves the opportunity to serve patients in Rexburg and the surrounding communities.

In his spare time, Dr. Gillette can be found spending time with his family of four children and his wife, Rachel. They enjoy camping, fishing, competitive sports, and all types of outdoor activities. Dr. Gillette is an avid archer, fly fisherman, and golfer.
